Opportunities

 

We are currently providing services to medical facilities, government agencies, school districts, private consumers, and many other clients. We also have positions available for language testers, staff interpreters, workshop coordinators, ASL teachers, mentors, and Advisory Council Members.

 

ASL Interpreters

 

Freelance opportunities in all major cities in the US
Professional interpreting experience required
Accreditation from state, federal, and some private accreditation organizations
Fluency in at least one sign system
Industry-specific terminology is preferred
Some technical and vocational experience may be required

 

Deaf Interpreters

 

We are currently looking for individuals to communicate in foreign sign systems and ASL to assist in interpreting for individuals not native to the United States or with limited language proficiency

 

Language Tester Qualifications

 

ASLTA or comparable credentials
Proven fluency in sign at a Master or PHD level
Video Interpreting experience preferred

 

Staff interpreters

 

Staff positions are available in major US cities
Staff requirements CI/CT or CSC NAD IV , V, NIC Advanced and Master
Medical clearances
Background and drug screening
Minimum 8 years interpreting experience

 

Workshop Designers and Presenters

 

We are a RID CEU provider. If you are interested in providing workshops to certified interpreters and students, please contact us. Deaf and Hearing individuals may apply to design and implement workshops for ASL interpreters. Workshops may also be delivered in spoken English if ASL terminology is not the subject of the presentation. SLP is also open to co-sponsoring relevant workshops for CEU accredited agencies.

 

ASL teachers

 

ASLTA or comparable credentials
Minimum 5 years teaching experience
Proven fluency in sign at a Masters or PHD level
Video conferencing abilities preferred

 

Mentors

 

Pre-certified interpreters and students need your help!

 

We network Deaf and Hearing individuals with students and candidates for mentorship. Please inform us if you would like to participate in the education and mentorship of the next generation of interpreters. We will refer you to local RID chapters to find mentors as well as provide lists of students and interpreters interested in working together. Locations may vary and it is the responsibility of the mentor and mentored to negotiate any and all compensation for mentorship.

Job shadowing for pre-certified interpreters

 

Job Shadowing opportunities are available for pre-certified interpreters who have graduated from an Interpreter Training Program and have taken the written portion of the RID certification test. The purpose of our job shadowing program is to provide beneficial experience in actual work environments and prepare the next generation of interpreters with real life experience interpreting for the Deaf community.
