Video Remote Interpreting

Video Remote Interpreting is an immediate, efficient, and low cost alternative to a face-to-face interpreter when one is not reasonably available.
How does it work? It’s easy!
All you need is internet access, a video camera, a computer and easy to install software. With VRI, you and your Deaf consumer are in the same location, and utilizing our video conferencing equipment, you place a call to our remote interpreter who is in a call center in a different city. Our system sends signals to your computer network, which are then transmitted over the internet to one of our dispatching operators.
Setting up VRI services and installing the necessary internet connections and on-site hardware in many cases can be done in less than a week and if you already have a high speed DSL or better internet connection, a web cam, and a computer, your services could start in the same day!
Another on-site communication tool that providers should always be aware of if CART, Captioning and Real Time. On-site transcriptionists are available to communicate with your Deaf consumer via typed conversations on portable computer hardware. CART is best suited for highly English Deaf consumers who are not always fluent in ASL or for highly technical conversations and legal scenarios.
